Salesforce Flow: Summer ’25 and Beyond—Automation at Light Speed

Salesforce’s Summer ’25 release has landed, and it’s transforming Flow Builder into a powerhouse of modern automation. Whether you’re a seasoned admin, a studio developer, or simply curious about the latest in process automation, here’s your up-to-date, compelling snapshot of what’s new—and why it matters.

Interface Upgrades & Flow Creation

  • Polished “Create New Flow” Modal
Initiating a flow is now faster and smarter, with intuitive filtering, templated suggestions, and easy access from both Setup and the Automation App. No more choosing the wrong flow type halfway through.

  • Canvas Enhancements & Smooth Zooming
Flow Builder now supports pinch-to-zoom, keyboard shortcuts, and sticky zoom—great for navigating complex flows without losing context.

Resource Picker Upgrades & Selectability

  • Expanded Resource Search
The enhanced Resource Picker now allows search up to 10 levels deep, helping you locate nested fields or external data with ease.

  • Label-Based Picklist Display
Picklist values now show user-friendly labels instead of cryptic API names, improving clarity—especially useful when connecting with external platforms like Jira or MuleSoft.

Powerful Data & Logic Enhancements

  • Get Related Records (Beta)
Fetch related objects in a single “Get Records” element—for example, retrieve an Account plus its related Opportunities and Line Items together.

  • Modernized Send Email Action
Configuring email actions is now more intuitive: improved input panels, easier selection of recipients, attachments, and sender addresses, with a cleaner layout.

  • View Action/Subflow Outputs
One-click visibility into the outputs of any Action or Subflow—with data type, labels, and descriptions—makes debugging and mapping outputs a breeze.

Dynamic Screens & Reactive UI

  • Reactive Screen Actions (Beta → GA)
Now live in Summer ’25, reactive screen actions enable live data updates—like search results refreshing as you type or dependent picklists that adjust instantly, without clicking “Next”.
  • Compact Repeaters with Width Control
Display multiple repeater instances side-by-side and customize component widths—ideal for mini-forms, comparison grids, and dynamic layouts.

Automations, Approvals & Agentflow Integration

  • Invocable Approval Processes Anywhere
You can now call approval workflows directly from any Flow—not just orchestrated ones—complete with a ready-to-use template for single approver scenarios.

  • Structured Agent Invocable Outputs
Integrations with Agentforce and AI agents now deliver predictable, structured output—streamlining automation logic without writing Apex.

  • Tighter Slack Integration & Dynamic Formulas
Flow now includes enhanced Slack triggers and leverages dynamic formulas in Apex—ideal for modern, integrated workflows.

Final Thoughts

Summer ’25 isn’t just another release—it’s a leap forward. Salesforce Flow now offers greater clarity, smoother design interactions, and remarkably smarter capabilities. This is automation that doesn’t just work—it delights.
